It is never easy to deal with death, especially when it comes to a loved one, whether it is a family member, a friend or a partner. The pain never goes away.

Ronnie Milsap is no stranger to that feeling. Recently, on March 25, 2018, he took to his Facebook page to share with his fans and followers the sorrow that he was feeling.

The post was written as a way to honor Zell Miller, his former teacher and longtime friend, who passed away at the age of 86 on March 23, as reported by Classic Country Music.

Milsap wrote that Miller was a great man and a wonderful teacher, who had an immense charisma and was 'loaded with knowledge.' He finished his tribute by sending words of comfort to his family.

“We’ll all miss you Zell, you were my teacher, my friend and a great Humanitarian. We love you forever! Condolences to Shirley and the family.”

According to the source, Milsap is currently one of the most famous country singers in history, with 40 number one hits on his record. He is the third most chart-topping artist ever, only surpassed by Conway Twitty and George Strait.

But he didn't want to be a singer at first. He planned to focus on his studies after receiving a scholarship to Young Harris College, in Georgia, in order to become a lawyer.

That's where Milsap met Miller who, according to him, taught him everything he knows about how the government worked and helped him develop into the conservative that he is today.

As reported by Classic Country Music, Miller was so much more than just a teacher. He went on to become the Governor of Georgia between 1991 and 1999. Then, from 2000 to 2005, he served the role of a U.S. Senator.

Even though Milsap chose to dedicate his life to music, they remained in contact throughout the years and, in 1990, Miller had the honor to induct his former student into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
