Every single person can make a mistake and that’s completely understandable. Doctors, however, must not fail because they might put at risk someone’s life.

That’s the reason most people try to get the best doctor in the area they need to perform a surgery. In the U.S., Dr. Younan Nowzaradan is one of the most famous physicians and weight-loss experts.

According to Radar Online, he rose to fame for being portrayed many times in My 600-Lb Life. What people might not know about him is that he has been sued for ‘failing to properly treat’ a patient’s condition who died.

The wife of the diseased patient sued both Nowzaradan and University General Hospital in November 2012 as her husband was treated by them from September 2010 until his death in March 2011.

According to the papers obtained at the court, the defendants didn’t assess or recognized how bad her late husband’s condition was. Had they done their job properly, the chances of him losing his life would have been critically reduced.

Apart from that, she revealed that Nowzaradan failed to take ‘reasonable and standard’ pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative measures to prevent complications after the surgery.

In other words, the woman suggested that the doctor and the staff of the hospital were negligent and they caused the death of the patient. Nowzaradan asked for proofs but the case was dismissed and closed in April 2013.

It is not the only lawsuit the doctor has gotten. In 2012, he was sued by another patient who found a 7-inch piece of tubing in his body 22 months after a gastric sleeve surgery. That suit was also dismissed in 2013.

In June 2017, he was sued one more time for personal injury as a former patient claimed that her stomach ended up ‘deformed’ after having an abdominoplasty and a procedure to get an umbilical hernia removed.

The most recent lawsuit was opened in September 2017, when a patient reported that a tube was left in their abdominal cavity after a Laparoscopic surgery. That case remains ongoing.
