Anna Nicole Smith’s mother reportedly dies at 66 after a battle with cancer

The Daily Mail reported that Anna Nicole Smith’s mother, Virgie Arthur, recently passed away at 66 years old.

Arthur died after a long battle with cancer at her home in Montgomery, Texas on November 18, 2018.

In 2009, Smith’s father, Donald Hogan, also passed away because of lung cancer.

The 66-year-old had always been willing to defend her late daughter when she got involved in controversies.

“People say that you get over it but you never get over it. You never forget and you never get over it. God just makes a way for you to accept it.”

Smith passed away when she was only 39 years old due to accidental drug overdose. She was found in her hotel room in Hollywood, Florida.

Born as Vickie Lynn Hogan, Smith was only two years old when her parents divorced. She grew up with her mother and Smith’s aunt helped in raising her.

In 1992, Smith shot to fame after starting her modeling career as a playmate for “Playboy” magazine.

Last year was the 10th anniversary of the model’s death and to commemorate her passing, Arthur had an interview with the Daily Mail, where she gushed over her “beautiful, funny child.”

She said, “People won’t know her as Vickie Lynn like we do. Her family knows her because they were raised with her. Other people don’t, they just know her as Anna Nicole. Vickie Lynn was a great kid and now she’s gone.”

Smith changed her name twice. The first one was Nikki Hart after her mother married Donald R. Hart in 1971. The second one was what she was known for, Anna Nicole Smith.

Speaking about Smith’s passing, Arthur said, “People say that you get over it but you never get over it. You never forget and you never get over it. God just makes a way for you to accept it.”

Before Smith died, the family went through the death of her son, 20-year-old Daniel. Arthur said he died of a drug overdose while he was visiting Smith in her hospital room. At the time, Smith has just given birth to her daughter named Dannielynn.

At present, Smith’s daughter is 12 years old and her photographer father, Larry Birkhead, is raising her.

Not a lot of people know that the 12-year-old was the subject of a paternity battle. When she was born, Smith listed Howard K. Stern – Smith’s longtime partner and lawyer – as the father. Although, a few other men, including Birkhead, claimed to be Dannielynn's father.
