Lady Gaga claims Trump is ‘driven by ignorance’ as she slams POTUS amid anti-trans controversy

Lady Gaga questions President Trump's understanding of contemporary American society.

Lady Gaga, the singer/actress who is now riding high on the wave of approval for her performance in “A Star Is Born,” has come out in support of transgender individuals after a Trump administration memo that threatens their status was leaked.

The bisexual pop star whose 2011 hit “Born This Way” became an LGBTQ anthem, protested the memo on her Twitter/@ladygaga account promoting the #WontBeErased campaign to her 77 million followers.

“THE GOVERNMENT MAY BE LIVING IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, BUT WE AS A SOCIETY & CULTURE KNOW WHO WE ARE.”

Gaga's post follows the leak of an internal memo written by entities within the Trump administration. If implemented as law, the memo would invalidate all the Obama-era protections set in place for the LGBTQ minority.

Gaga extols the public to join the protest and "educate" the government about gender identities. She captioned her statement : #TransRightsAreHumanRights #WontBeErased

The Trump administration has previously tried to roll back transgender recognition in areas such as the military and in schools by banning transgenders in the military and rescinding Obama-era transgender bathroom rules

THE MEMO WANTS TO DEFINE GENDER BY BIRTH CERTIFICATE

The leaked memo indicates that the administration seeks to dismantle legal recognition of transgender individuals by defining gender by the "birth genitalia" and demanding DNA testing to corroborate any doubts as to a person's gender.

LADY GAGA TAGGED PRESIDENT TRUMP ON HER TWITTER POST

The singer then tagged Donald Trump on Twitter in a post linking to the CBS documentary “Gender | The Space Between,” a study of the complexities of gender identity and gender expression in modern society.

Gaga, who was a Hilary Clinton supporter during the last elections, is an outspoken critic of the Trump administration.

A "STAR IS BORN" SOUNDTRACK IS BURNING UP THE CHARTS

Lady Gaga's duet with Bradley Cooper for the soundtrack of "A Star Is Born," "Shallow" is poised to take the #1 position on the Official Singles Chart in the UK.

The song is set to oust "Promises" by Calvin Harris & Sam Smith, and take the lead on the best seller charts.

"Shallow" is Gaga's first UK chart-topper in eight years since "Telephone" was #1 in 2010. Two more songs from the film are rising in the UK charts: "I'll Never Love Again" jumped nine places to 25; and "Always Remember Us This Way" leaped five spots to Number 26.

"A Star Is Born" is a remake of a remake of a remake...

The original movie was a 1937 romantic drama produced by David O. Selznick, starring Janet Gaynor s an aspiring Hollywood actress, and Fredric March as a fading star. It was remade in 1954 as a musical starring Judy Garland and James Mason and directed by George Cukor.

"A Star Is Born" was remade yet again in 1976 as a vehicle for Barbra Streisand as the rising young singer, and Chris Kristofferson as the has been rock-star who launches her career.

The 2018 version of "A Star Is Born" was produced and directed by Bradley Cooper, who plays the fading musical icon who falls in love with a young singer, played by Lady Gaga.

The film has been praised for the quality of the acting and the original music, written by Cooper and Gaga.
