Loretta Lynn is currently recovering at home after being hospitalized, which led one man to post a fake announcement on social media.

The country legend was forced to miss the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Lynn later took to her official Facebook account to let her fans and followers know that she was feeling better and 'enjoying her weekend resting up at home.'

THE POSER

According to her daughter, Peggy Lynn Marchetti, the 86-year-old's hospitalization seems to have been connected to a 'horrible stomach flu' that afflicted her last week.

A man, who goes by the name of Michael Lynn on Facebook, decided to take advantage of the situation and made a claim hinting that the singer was fighting for her life.

CLEARING THE MIST

The post, issued on Saturday, has now been deleted but claimed that Loretta was in the hospital dealing with 'serious issues' and that she needed prayers from her fans.

As it turns out, the news was fake and Peggy used Facebook to make very clear that Michael wasn't, in any way, a family member or someone close to the Lynn family.

"Fake news story going around from some guy posing to be a family member or posing to be close to [sic] family...its fake news. I so wished these news outlets would check their sources before running with gossip."

A TERRIBLE LOSS

Thankfully, nothing more serious happened to Loretta, but she has had to overcome some health challenges over the past year, such as a stroke in May 2017 and a broken hip earlier this year.

The acclaimed singer also went through a grieving period after losing her brother, Herman Webb, who was also a great musician himself, in July.

Webb resided in Van Lear and drew his last breath at the age of 83, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, surrounded by his loved ones.
