A teacher has been severely criticized for taking the microphone away from a little boy with autism right before he was about to speak, making him cry.

The identity of the teacher is yet to be revealed but many considered the gesture as highly offensive and accused her of treating the child differently.

During an interview with WDTV, Doctor Mark Manchin, Harrison County Schools Superintendent, revealed that the situation was nothing but a mistake.

Dr. Manchin claimed that the teacher didn't mean to be disrespectful nor there was any malice when she took the microphone away from the child.

The video was recorded by the boy's mother, whose identity hasn't been learned, during Nutter Fort Primary School's Thanksgiving play.

So far, it isn't known why the teacher decided to interrupt the boy as he was about to speak to those in attendance, but Dr. Manchin argued that the teacher meant well.

"This teacher, as all of our teachers, truly care about these young boys and girls. The program was over, at least as I understand, and the teacher had taken the microphone".

From people accusing her of 'mentally and emotionally abusing' the children to no letting the boy participate in the school play along with his peers, the teacher has been under intense fire since then.

Christy Baxter, a concerned mother, said that if the teacher thought it was ok to do what she did in a room full of people, then she didn't want to imagine what she was capable of 'behind closed doors.'

Every child deserves the right to be treated with respect, including those with disabilities. Every life is sacred and everyone has feelings that must be taken into consideration.

Recently, Maddox Scott Ritch, a boy with autism from Gastonia, North Carolina, was reported missing after disappearing from his father's sight at Rankin Lake Park.

The Gastonia Police Department is currently looking for the boy with the help of several other authority agencies, including the FBI, and those who might have any information regarding the case are encouraged to share it with the police.
