Burt Reynolds dies at 82

Veteran actor, director, and producer, Burt Reynolds, was most famously known for his roles in "Gunsmoke" and "Dan August."

He passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 82 of a heart attack. TMZ reports that Reynolds was rushed to a hospital in Florida, but doctors could not revive him.

He was reportedly surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his death. Read more on our Twitter account, @amomama_usa.

Reynolds underwent a quintuple coronary artery bypass graft eight years ago, a procedure to restore blood flow to a blocked artery.

The legendary actor had a career that spanned six decades and could boast with 188 acting credits to his name.

His first roles were minor parts in TV shows in the late fifties such as "Flight," "The Lawless Years," "Pony Express," "Riverboat," and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents."

Reynolds only soared to fame several years later when he was cast as Quint in "Gunsmoke." The show ran for three years during the sixties and Reynolds appeared in 50 episodes.

In 1970, he received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Lewis in the film "Deliverance" and went on to appear in "Hooper," as well as three "Dan August" films, and "Out Of This World."

Reynolds had no plans of retiring and was working up to the very end. His fans can look forward to the upcoming "Defining Moments," which will be released later this year.

He was filming "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood" at the time of his passing.

Reynolds was famously married to Loni Anderson. They exchanged vows in 1988 but parted ways again five years later.

Their divorce dragged on for years, and as part of their settlement, Reynolds had to pay Anderson a sum of $155,000. It took him more than two decades to repay her.

Despite the messy breakup, Anderson admitted that her time with Reynolds wasn't all bad. Reynolds is survived by their son, Quinton Anderson Reynolds.
